Our Team
George Johnstone
George Johnstone provides consulting, executive
coaching, and facilitation services to organizations engaged in
leadership and management development efforts. He has successfully
facilitated diverse audiences from cross-functional teams to internationally
mixed teams with varying educational backgrounds. He has worked
with clients in North America, Mexico, Brazil, Western Europe, Egypt,
Nigeria, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia.
During the 1960s and early 1970s, Mr. Johnstone served as a teacher
and as a consultant for administrators and educators. He taught
at Oakland University and Michigan State University, and at public
and private schools in Michigan and Thessalonica, Greece. In the
1970’s and 1980’s, he was in private practice as a psychotherapist
and trained and supervised others at the Huron Valley Institute
in Ann Arbor.
He has studied quality and systems thinking from Dr. W. Edwards
Deming, and Organizational Development consulting from Dr. Larry
Lippitt. His additional and on-going training have included scenario
thinking, Dialogue methodology, Neuro Linquistic Programming, HeartMath
certification, Myers-Briggs, and the the Enneagram.
Mr. Johnstone has conducted leadership and management development
seminars with such clients as Caterpillar, Citibank, First National
Bank of Chicago, DuPont, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Toyota,
Merck, United Technologies Corporation, General Foods, PepsiCo,
Irving Oil of Canada, Mobil Oil (now ExxonMobil), Shell, and John
Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company
Mr. Johnstone earned a B.A. in Divisional Social Sciences and a
M.A. in English and Education from Michigan State University. He
has completed extensive doctoral work in clinical psychology at
the Fielding Institute in Santa Barbara. He lives with his wife,
Joan, in Ann Arbor. He has two married daughters, two sons in college,
and four grandchildren. Joan and George enjoy a life long pursuit
of physical exercise, sports, the arts, and reading.
