Charles Pratt

Chuck Pratt is a consultant, trainer, and personal coach.  A 1979 graduate of the Coast Guard Academy, he has a B.S. in Management and an M.S. in Instructional Technology from Utah State University.

His Coast Guard career highlights include command of two ships; Chief of Professional Development at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut where he directed the Nautical Science Department and leadership training for cadets; adjunct instructor in the Coast Guard’s Leadership Development Center; and adjunct instructor in the Coast Guard Academy’s Leadership and Management Department. 

Chuck specializes in the people side of organizations, particularly in teambuilding, leadership development, coaching, interpersonal skills training, conflict management, emotional intelligence, appreciative inquiry, group facilitation, and dialogue.  He has consulted with organizations for more than fifteen years, and taught interpersonal skills and leadership training to over 7000 learners.  He has worked with groups in business, government, and not-for-profit organizations.

A nationally recognized expert in self-assessments, Chuck is certified to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the Bar-on Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i), the CPI 260, as well as the FIRO-B, TKI, and LSI.  He is a member of the training faculties of the Association for Psychological Type (APT) and Qualifying.org, for whom he delivers Train-the-Trainer Workshops all over the country.

Chuck was awarded APT’s Innovations in Training and Education Award in 2001 for a five-day leadership development program he developed for juniors at the Coast Guard Academy called the Self-awareness Workshop.  He is a co-architect of a values-based training program at Coast Guard Training Center Petaluma, California that garnered APT’s Organizational Excellence Award in 1999.

Some of Chuck’s clients have included Boeing, Cambria Consulting, Fidelity, The Hartford, Microsoft, Phillips, and University of Washington.

Chuck lives with his family on Camano Island, just outside of Seattle.
